THE SEASON BETWEEN BLOOM | PART III: The Quiet Shift
There is something special about September. Perhaps it is the light. The days are still warm, but the sun seems to arrive at a different angle. Even before the leaves begin to turn, nature offers the smallest indication that one season is preparing to surrender to another.
We recognize the change before we can quite see it.
There are seasons in our own lives that arrive the same way. Nothing dramatic happens. There is no announcement, no defining moment separating who we were from who we are becoming. Instead, something quietly begins to shift. An old ambition no longer holds the same urgency. A habit that once felt necessary begins to feel unnecessary. We become more selective about where we spend our time, what deserves our attention, and perhaps most importantly, what no longer does.
Growth is often described by what we add.
But maturity may be better understood by what we are finally willing to leave behind.
September understands this.
It does not rush summer from the room. Nor does it arrive carrying all the evidence of autumn. For a while, it simply occupies the space between them—allowing one season to loosen its grip while another slowly takes form.
There is wisdom in that transition. We do not always need to know precisely what comes next. Sometimes recognizing that something has changed is enough. The decision can come later. The destination can reveal itself in time.
The shift itself is already movement. Perhaps that is what the season between bloom has been teaching us all along: transformation rarely begins when the world can see it.
It begins quietly, when we can.
The Season Between Bloom reminds us that life’s most meaningful transformations often happen quietly, long before they are visible to anyone else.
